FS700TS Series Switch - Firmware Version 3.0.0.26

FS728TS, FS752TS, FS752TPS Firmware Version 3.0.0.26

Published December 4, 2007

Important Note:

  1. Please make sure the bootcode version of your FS700TS smart switch is V1.0.0.8 before upgrading the firmware to version V3.0.0.26.
  2. Please read the upgrade and downgrade instruction carefully before upgrading to the new 3.0.0.26 firmware or downgrading from 3.0.0.26 to older firmware. Improper upgrade procedure may cause the device to become inoperable and must be replaced

Enhancements:

  1. New and enhanced Graphical User interface.

Fixes:

  1. Fixed the performance issue with Firefox.
  2. Removed the PoE settings for units that do not support PoE.
  3. Fixed the display issue with IE7.0 running on Vista.
  4. Fixed the problem that entry with non-alphanumeric characters (eg. ~!@#$%^&<>) can be created, but can not be deleted from the following tables: MAC ACL, SNMP Community configuration and Trap configuration.
  5. Fixed the issue that the switch name displayed on the GUI might be different before and after you have login to the device when a stack is with mixed model types.

Limitations and Known Issues:

  1. Only members of default VLAN (VLAN ID of 1) can manage the switch.
  2. Changing the default PVID would automatically remove the port from VLAN 1.
  3. It does not support Vista with Internet Explorer 7.
Workaround: None. Vista will be supported in the next FW release.
  4. There is a problem that entry with non-alphanumeric characters (eg. ~!@#$%^&<>) can be created, but can not be deleted from the following tables: MAC ACL, SNMP Community configuration and Trap configuration.
Workaround: Please do not create entries with non-alphanumeric characters when defining the name for MAC ACL, SNMP community string, and SNMP Trap Filter.
  5. Units that do not support PoE show up in the in PoE Configuration page.
Workaround: Please ignore the unit without PoE.
  6. When using Mozilla Firebox, the VLAN name does not get displayed correctly in the Multicast Group configuration table under Switching > Multicast > Advanced page.
Workaround: This does not prevent you from creating the multicast group, as long as the correct VLAN ID is selected.
  7. The feature to determine the cable length in the Cable Test table does not work.
Workaround: None. It will be fixed in the next FW release.
  8. In a stack with mixed model types, the switch name displayed on the GUI might be different before and after you’ve have login to the device. For example, it might show FS728TS at the login page. But, after entering the correct password, it will always show model name of the master unit.
Workaround: None. It will be fixed in the next FW release.
  9. Refreshing the page (Ctrl+F5) will always bring you back to the first page, which is the System Information page.
Workaround: Please manually navigate to the desired page again.

    • To upgrade your FS700TS smart switch from an older version of firmware to V3.0.0.26, you would need to upgrade your device to the interim image (FS700TS- V1.0.1.inter19A1614U00242.ros) first.
    • Then, perform the upgrade again from the interim image to V3.0.0.26.
    • Once switch is running with version V3.0.0.26, there is no need to use the interim image again for upgrading the FW to any newer version.

The procedure for upgrading the device to the interim image is the same as the regular firmware upgrade. It can be downloaded via a TFTP server or Smartwizard Discovery utility.

  1. Start Smartwizard Discovery Utility, (included on the CD coming with your Smart Switch). If it is not installed, do so now, before continuing.
  2. In Smartwizard Discovery window, click Discover to find your Smart Switch. The switch will be listed in the device list table once found. (Note: Smartwizard Discovery uses broadcast packets to find Smart Switches, which means it can only find Smart Switches in the same routing domain.)
  3. Highlight the Smart Switch to upgrade and click Firmware Upgrade.
  4. Follow the screen prompts to complete the upgrade. Smartwizard Discovery will report a successful completion at the end.

Downgrading from V3.0.0.26 to an older version of FW

Note: It is not recommended to downgrade the firmware back to the old GUI style. If you want to downgrade firmware, please make sure the Active Image on the device is 2 and not 1. Otherwise, it will not succeed.
You can check the Active Image number in Maintenance > File Management page.

  1. It is imperative that you perform the downgrade twice using the same version of FW. Otherwise, the switch will be inoperable if you upgrade it again to the interim image.
