Note: Do not upgrade the firmware using a wireless connection. Please perform firmware upgrade with “wired” or Ethernet connection only.
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a Block Site issue which caused Internet re-connection in the DHCP mode.
- Fixed the Web GUI issue that changing the wireless setting might fail the Web GUI access after router reboot.
- Fixed a LAN IP address re-assignment bug under a specific LAN/WAN IP address conflict condition.
- Increased the NAT UDP table to 2048 entries, and shortened the UDP session timeout to 5 minutes for NAT.
- Disabled the SIP ALG and NAT Port Reservation to avoid an one-way voice problem with the SIP phones
Known Issues
- Video and Audio of ICQ5 connection cannot be established.
To Upgrade
Note: Do not upgrade the firmware using a wireless connection. Please perform firmware upgrade with “wired” or Ethernet connection only.
- Write down all the settings which you changed from the default values, since you may need to reenter them manually.
- Download using the button below to a convenient
place such as your desktop.

- Log in to the router using a Web broswer. The URL is http://192.168.1.1 ( if you did not change the router’s IP address ).
- Click Maintenance > Router Upgrade
- Click Browse and find the file you just downloaded.
- Click Upload. Do not interrupt the upgrade while the router does this step.
The router reboots when the upgrade is done.
- After the router boots up, log in the router again.
- If you would like to check that the upgrade was successful, log in to the router again at http://192.168.1.1, and check the firmware version.
Recovery Procedure:
In case the flash image is damaged (because of improper or interrupted upgrade process, or bad firmware image programmed by the open source developers, etc), you can reloading the firmware via TFTP following the procedure below:
- Power off the unit
- Press and hold the RESET button at the rear panel
- Power on to reboot the unit
- Monitor the Test LED, and keep holding the RESET button until the Test LED changes from blinking to steady ON (which means the boot loader has entered the TFTP recovery mode)
- Connect the PC to the LAN port of the unit
- Transmit the firmware image file to the unit:
- For Windows PC, enter the DOS command:
tftp -i 192.168.1.1 PUT KWGR614_XXX.bix
- For a Linux PC, use the command:
tftp -m binary 192.168.1.1 -c put KWGR614_XXX.bix
where the “192.168.1.1” is the unit’s LAN IP address and “KWGR614_XXX.bix” is the firmware image file to transmit.
- Monitor the Test LED. When it starts blinking, the recovery procedure is complete.
- Power cycle to reboot KWGR614
