SC101 Firmware Version 4.19.0 and Utility Version 1.5.6

SC101 Utility 1.5.7

  • The automatic update method described directly below is recommended. The manual upgrade method is also described.
  • Before starting, make sure the SC101 is on, connected to your computer, and that the computer has Intenet access.

Fixes

  1. Fixed that SC101 shows less usable space comparing with total capacity minus total size of files. Note that to reclaim already lost space, the partition needs to be recreated.
  2. Fixed that large transfers to mirrored drive can cause computer to hang or be non-responsive.
  3. Fixed that could cause file corruption when one file is written to simultaneously from two computers.
  4. Fixed that sometimes a file with Traditional Chinese characters in the name, copied onto SC101 shows size of 0 and is corrupted.
  5. Fixed that AutoCAD 2004 LT files were corrupted after being saved on SC101. (Other AutoCAD versions did not have this problem.)
  6. Fixed that sometimes PC with wireless connection to the router won't auto-mount the broken mirrored drives after rebooting.
  7. The archive bit is now set correctly on Outlook .PST files stored on the SC101.

To Upgrade using the automatic SC101 SCM utility (recommended)

1. Start the Storage Central Manager (SCM) utility. (Restart it, if it is already running.)

2. Click Yes check for updates > Next. If new software is found, the window displays the numbers of the new versions.

3. When new firmware or software is found, click Yes to update. The authentication password page displays.

4. Enter the administrator password, which is password, unless you changed it from the default. An "Authentication successful" message appears. (If the password fails, you are returned to the previous step.)

5. Click Next.

6. Click OK to dismiss the pop-up window accepting your password.

7. Click "Yes" to start the download. Note that this process should not be stopped by clicking any buttons in this window.

8. A pop-up shows when download is done. Click OK to dismiss it. Wait for the upgrade to completed. When it's done, the "Configuration Mode" screen displays.

9. Click Exit to close the utility.

10. Wait two minutes, then restart the utility. This time, when you check for updates, you are notified that you have the most current software.

11. Click Exit to close the utility.

12. Reattach the letters for the drives or partitions that were detached during the update.

13. You are done. Do not follow the instructions below.

To Manually Upgrade

  • Once you run the downloaded program, you are required to reboot the computer, so close all other applications before starting.
  • We recommend upgrading to this new SCM utility on all your computers that run it.
  1. Download the new SCM to a convenient place such as your desktop. (This is a large file!)

    4.70 MB

  2. Run scm_1_5_7_setup.exe to start the installation.
  3. Select Update to directly update to the new version, or Remove to first remove the current one.
  4. Reboot the PC when prompted.
  5. If you selected "Remove" in Step 3, then run scm_1_5_7_setup.exe again after the PC reboots.
