GSM7224 Software Version 3.0.3(1)

Published Feb. 22, 2005

Fixes

1. If port mirroring was enabled and the switch is rebooted, the switch would hang during system boot-up.
2. SNMP public community IP address would be reset back to “0.0.0.0” if user has configured both public and private community IP addresses, and then delete the private community entry.
3. SNMP community IP address incorrectly being displayed in reversed order in the Web page. The value is stored in correct order. Just the web GUI display is incorrect. The display from CLI is in correct order.
4. This platform only support auto-negotiation mode for 1000Mbps (gigabit) operation per IEEE 802.3 standard. As such, the option of setting speed at 1000Mbps without auto-negotiation is removed.

Installation Procedure

The firmware upgrade requires a TFTP server. If you do not have such utility, go to this site to download the free software: http://support.solarwinds.net/updates/New-customerFree.cfm. Follow the instructions to install it on your server.

  1. Download the link below to a PC with TFTP server, placing it in the TFTP home/root directory.

    4 MB

  2. Go to System > System Utilities > Download file to switch page in the Web interface.
  3. Select Code for ‘File Type’.
  4. Verify information such as the IP address for the TFTP Server, the Gateway IP address, and the filename and its path of the new image (no path is needed if the file is under TFTP root directory).
  5. Check Start File Transfer, and then click Submit.
  6. A message shows on the shaded line, indicating start of file transfer. During transfer, the Web GUI flashes once a second to indicate progress After the file downloads another message shows, indicating the image is storing to FLASH. This takes a few minutes. DO NOT RESET OR POWER CYCLE THE SWITCH DURING THIS PERIOD. After the writing to the FLASH is complete, another message shows indicating the operation completed successfully. You can now safely restart the switch.
  7. Restart. Go to System > System Utilities > System Reset. Click Reset. It asks if you want to save changes. Answer Yes, and the system reboots
  8. After system comes back up, go to System > Inventory Information to confirm the software version is correct.
