I. Overview

This note describes enhancements and bug fixes in the FVS318v3 Release Version 3.0_23 software. The enhancements and fixes are those added since Release Version 3.0_22.

II. New Features Overview

Version 3.0_23

  1. Improved DHCP server settings: added DNS Server, WINS Server and Lease Time assignment.

Version 3.0_21

  1. Throughput greatly increased for firewall and 3DES VPN.
  2. Adds VPN keep-alive function.
  3. Adds ICMP in Rules.
  4. SNMP agent Adds.

Version 3.0_20

  1. Adds SMTP authentication for email from router.
  2. Adds UPnP support (OFF by default).

Version 3.0_19

  1. Adds PPPoE static IP support.

III. Modifications and Bug Fixes

Version 3.0_23

  1. Fixes Windows file copy over VPN on PPTP connections.
  2. Enhances SNMP MIB-2 system group enterprise info.
  3. Adds full URL in "block sites" log entry.
  4. Fixes log where the IP address is sometimes reversed.
  5. Fixes native MAC address overwritten by restoring config file.
  6. Fixes static route does not allow route to single host.
  7. IKE pre-shared key now allows special characters.
  8. Fixes H323 gatekeeper issue.
  9. Adds daily reboot schedule.
  10. Fixes Samsung VPN router compatibility issue.

Version 3.0_22

  1. Fixes Windows file copy problem over VPN for DHCP and PPPoE connections.
  2. Fixes NAT-T interoperability issue with Sonicwall VPN.
  3. Fixes Cisco router VPN SA lifetime (kB) issue.
  4. Fixes MTU setting on PPTP connections.
  5. Fixes Log menu "Clear Log" button.
  6. Fixes PPPoE server disconnect issue.
  7. Adds ICMP service for inbound rules.
  8. Adds timezone for New Delhi (GM+5:30) and Kathmandu (GMT+5:45). 

Version 3.0_21

  1. Fixes VPN tunnel cannot pass through MSS > 1400 bytes.
  2. Fixes DNS porting forwarding issue.
  3. Fixes VPN tunnel can be setup using manual policy but different authentication keys.
  4. Fixes Manual VPN policy cannot be disabled if NetBIOS feature is disabled.
  5. NetBIOS over VPN Fixes.
  6. Diagnostics Web UI can now ping to remote VPN site.
  7. Fixes Diagnostics Web UI often get timeout.
  8. Will now send hourly email if selected, even if there are no log messages.
  9. Show VPN client policies in VPN Status screen.
  10. Removed log entries for local multicast router discovery packets.
  11. Changed default VPN SA lifetime from 4194303 to 100000.
  12. Fixes External TCP port 0 not stealth.
  13. Fixes DHCP client connection drop.
  14. Fixes Password too long causes router to crash after reboot.
  15. Fixes Enable DMZ will cause VPN tunnel to fail to setup.
  16. Adds warning message if user configures a port forwarding policy that includes IKE port.

  1. Enhanced VPN log.
  2. Changed VPN autopolicy default settings.
  3. Fixes port 0 stealth issue.
  4. Adds logging of dropped inbound packets.
  5. Fixes MTU issue when FTP server on LAN.
  6. Fixes bidirectional traffic stress issue.
  7. Fixes VPN traffic selector issue.
  8. Fixes VPN AES interop issue with FVS318v1,and FVS318v2.

    Version 3.0_19

  1. Enhanced VPN Log.
  2. Allow multiple remote access VPN policies to be Adds.
  3. Fixes inaccurate real time clock when heavy traffic.
  4. Modified remote management access URL. Is now:     https://<IP_addr>:<port_number>
  5. Adds DHCP client keep-alive in ISP Settings menu.
  6. Fixes that if PPPoE connection is dropped and reconnected, the VPN tunnel cannot be restablished.

IV. Known Issues

    1. Manual VPN policy does not support using FQDN for remote VPN endpoint.
    2. For Auto VPN policy, if remote VPN endpoint is FQDN, it may take up to two minutes for the connections to set up.

V. To Upgrade

    1. Download using the button below to a convenient place such as your desktop.

    2. Using a browser, login to the router as admin.
    3. Under Management, click Router Upgrade.
    4. Click Browse and locate the upgrade file that you just downloaded.
    5. Click Upload.
    6. Wait for the router to reboot and the TEST LED to turn off.
    7. Turn off the power on the router.
    8. Turn on the power on the router.

For problems after upgrading, write down all your configuration information before upgrading, then clear the configuration by pressing the Factory Defaults pushbutton on the rear panel for 15 seconds. Then reenter your configuration information manually.
