GSM7248 Initial Firmware Version 4.0.3.15

Published Feb. 10, 2006

Fixes

1. Fixed: Switch may crash and reboot if packets are forwarded from lower 24 ports (1 to 24) to higher 24 ports (25-48) where the port speeds are different, e.g., if one port is using 10M half duplex, and the other is using 1000M bps full duplex.

Installation Instructions

The upgrade requires a TFTP server. If you do not have such utility, see Where to get TFTP for Switch Upgrades.

  1. Download the link below to the PC with TFTP server, placing it in the TFTP home/root directory.

    5.86 MB

  2. Go to System > System Utilities > Download file to switch page in the Web interface.
  3. Select Code for ‘File Type’.
  4. Verify information such as the IP address for the TFTP Server, the Gateway IP address, and the filename and its path of the new image (no path is needed if the file is under TFTP root directory).
  5. Check Start File Transfer, and then click Submit.
  6. A message shows on the shaded line, indicating start of file transfer. During transfer, the Web GUI flashes once a second to indicate progress. After the file downloads another message shows, indicating the image is storing to FLASH. This takes a few minutes. DO NOT RESET OR POWER CYCLE THE SWITCH DURING THIS PERIOD. After the writing to the FLASH is complete, another message shows indicating the operation completed successfully. You can now safely restart the switch.
  7. Restart. Go to System > System Utilities > System Reset. Click Reset. It asks to save changes. Answer Yes, and the system reboots.
  8. After switch comes back up, go to System > Inventory Information to confirm the software version is correct.
