GSM7224 Software Version 3.0.3.4

Issues This Firmware Resolves

1. Previously, the management CPU might not respond to network access requests (ping, Web access, telnet, and SNMP queries). The switch continued to forward network traffic. The console was still operational, but not be manageable through network ports. The workaround was to reboot.

To Install

The firmware upgrade requires a TFTP server. If you do not have such utility, go to this site to download the free software: http://support.solarwinds.net/updates/New-customerFree.cfm. Follow the instructions to install it on your server.

  1. Download the link below to a PC with TFTP server, placing it in the TFTP home/root directory.

    4.00 MB

  2. Go to System > System Utilities > Download file to switch page in the Web interface.
  3. Select Code for File Type.
  4. Verify information such as the IP address for the TFTP Server, the Gateway IP address, and the filename and its path of the new image (no path is needed if the file is under TFTP root directory).
  5. Check Start File Transfer, and then click Submit.
  6. A message shows on the shaded line, indicating start of file transfer. During transfer, the Web GUI flashes once a second to indicate progress. After the file downloads another message shows, indicating the image is storing to FLASH. This takes a few minutes. DO NOT RESET OR POWER CYCLE THE SWITCH DURING THIS PERIOD. After the writing to the FLASH is complete, another message shows indicating the operation completed successfully. You can now safely restart the switch.
  7. Restart. Go to System > System Utilities > System Reset. Click Reset. It asks to save changes. Answer Yes, and the system reboots.
  8. After switch comes back up, go to System > Inventory Information to confirm the software version is correct.
