WGT624 and WGT624v2 Firmware Version 4.2.10

Overview

Version 4.2.10 of the WGT624(v1) and WGT624v2 firmware. This is not compatible with WGT624v3.

Released June 14, 2005.

  • The German and Japanese NETGEAR web site have their localized versions of earlier firmwares. German and Japanese may use this English version, but it's illegal in Japan to turn on the channel bonding feature.

Changes since 4.2.8

  1. The "108 Only" mode and associated Adaptive Radio option were removed to conform to Wi-Fi certification requirements. After this upgrade, if that mode was selected, "Auto 108" mode is automatically selected, instead.
  2. Fixes the issue that WAN DHCP was not automatically renewing IP.

Fixes Since 4.2.6

  1. Fixes "108M-only" performance issue for some units.
  2. Fixes "wireless interference causes system reboot/lockup" issue.
  3. Fixes problem with 4.2.6 that caused some routers to reboot repeatedly after upgrade from 4.2.4 which required a factory default reset to get it work again

New Features and Bug Fixes Since 4.2.4

  1. With this firmware the WGT624 and WGT624v2 pass the official Microsoft Xbox Live certification.
  2. Static IP option for PPPoE (when applicable with ISP) .
  3. UPnP enabled by default.
  4. Fixed firmware downgrade exception (before this release, downgrading from 4.2.4 to previous version required a hardware reset).

Known Issues

  1. If voice in MSN Messenger does not work, disabling UPnP will fix it. Note that even if UPnP is disabled, voice in MSN Messenger 7.0 beta might not work every time, requiring restarting Messenger.

New Features Since Version 4.1.11

  1. Added eXtended Range (XR).
  2. Added Adaptive Radio (AR).
  3. Changed UPnP to be enabled by default.
  4. French wireless channels are updated to reflect a new regulatory requirement.

  2. Fixed that the router updates the DDNS server unnecessarily frequently.
  3. Fixed that visiting the same Web site logged multiple entries.
  4. Fixed the router won't port forward for DNS lookup from the WAN side to the LAN side.
