To Upgrade

The server and client updates are packaged in a single zip file. There is a two-step upgrade procedure:

Step 1. Install the Server Software

  1. Using the PC where the NETGEAR AV Media Server software is running, download the new file MP115_S3_3_44_C4_1_20.zip from NETGEAR. Customers in Europe may instead download the file MP115_S3_3_44_C4_1_20_eu.zip. The firmware image in this second file enables the use of extra wireless channels, which is prohibited by law in North America.
  2. Use an unzip utility to extract the files to a convenient location (such as the Windows Desktop). Do NOT run the .exe file from inside the unzip utility.
  3. Open the new folder created, double click the MediaServer.exe file to launch the splash screen, and click the topmost button to start the AV Media Server installer.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to upgrade the server. Reboot the PC if directed.

Step 2. Upgrade the Client Using the Remote Control

  1. Be sure the NETGEAR AV Media Server software is running on the PC.
  2. Using the remote control, be sure that no music or video is playing on the MP115.
  3. Connect the MP115 to the server where the updated AV Media Server was installed.
  4. Press the Settings button to open the settings menu.
  5. Select the Maintenance item. The screen should show an available update to version 4.1.20.
  6. Using the arrow keys and OK button, select the Apply Upgrade button.
  7. The screen will show progress messages as information is downloaded to the player. When the upgrade is complete, the MP115 will reboot.
  8. After rebooting, the new firmware version can be verified in the Maintenance screen in the Settings menu.
