New Features Overview
Smart Wizard Configuration Assistant

A Smart Wizard Configuration Assistant has been added to help guide the user in the initial configuration of the router and connection to the Internet. To use the Configuration Assistant, the router must be in the default manufacturing state. The user can reset the router to the default state in two ways: 1) press and hold the reset button on the rear of the router for 10 seconds, or 2) use Erase in the router's Backup Settings menu.

Access the Router’s Configuration Manager by URL

To access the Configuration Manager, the user no longer needs to type the router’s IP address into the browser. Two URLs -- www.routerlogin.com and www.routerlogin.net -- have been added to the DNS proxy software, and will connect the user to the Configuration Manager.

Known Issues:

  1. From the "Cannot Connect to the Internet" error page, you must enter URL www.routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm to reach the Basic Settings menu.
  2. Occasionally after configuration, there may be a latency in the DNS proxy response. If this occurs, wait 20-30 seconds after the completion of the configuration and then try to launch a new browser session.
  3. When manually configuring the router, you must complete the configuration by clicking Apply when finished entering your settings. If you do not do so, a browser in any PC connected to the router will display the router Configuration Assistant Welcome page rather than the browser’s home page.
  4. In some situations the Welcome page of the Configuration Assistant may take up to 45 seconds to display. This issue is related to browser caching. Clearing the browser cache eliminates the problem.

Advanced User Access

To bypass the Smart Wizard Configuration Assistant, log in to the router at www.routerlogin.net/basicsetting.htm with the username of admin and password of password, both in lowercase letters.

Upgrading to the New Software:

NOTE: After upgrading to this firmware from a previous version, you MUST clear the Configuration settings (either by using the default button on the rear panel or the Erase button in the Backup Settings menu) and reenter your configuration information manually. Please write down all of your configuration information before upgrading.

It may appear to you that this step can be avoided, however later problems such as performance degradation may occur.

  1. You can upgrade by using the Web interface Router Upgrade menu.
  2. Open a browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape).
  3. Access the router (usually http://192.168.0.1).
  4. Login to the router (User Name = admin and Password = password unless you have changed it).
  5. Write down all settings that you have entered during configuration.
  6. Under Maintenance, click Router Upgrade.
  7. Click Browse and locate the upgrade file for your firewall model.
  8. Click Upload.
  9. Wait for the router to reboot.
  10. Under Maintenance, click Settings Backup, then click Erase.
  11. Wait for the router to reboot.
  12. Manually enter your configuration information.

If problems occur after upgrading, try clearing the router again as in Steps 9 – 10 above, and reconfigure.
