WGT624 and WGT624v2 Firmware

- The German NETGEAR Web site has a German
language version.
- A Japanese version is available on
the Japanese Web site. People in Japan may use this version, but it
is illegal in Japan to turn on the channel bonding feature.
New Features and Bug Fixes Since 4.2.4
- With this firmware the WGT624 and WGT624v2 pass the official Microsoft
Xbox Live certification.
- Static IP option for PPPoE (when applicable with ISP) .
- UPnP enabled by default.
- Fixed firmware downgrade exception (before this release, downgrading
from 4.2.4 to previous version required a hardware reset).
Known Problems
- If voice in MSN Messenger does not work, disabling UPnP will fix it.
Note that even if UPnP is disabled, voice in MSN Messenger 7.0 beta
might not work every time, requiring restarting Messenger.
New Features Since Version 4.1.11
- Added eXtended Range (XR).
- Added Adaptive Radio (AR).
- Changed UPnP to be enabled by default.
- French wireless channels are updated to reflect a new regulatory
requirement.
Bug Fixes Since Version 4.1.11
- Fixed that Macintosh browser can't access the main page of the router
configuration GUI.
- Fixed that the router updates the DDNS server unnecessarily frequently.
- Fixed that visiting the same Web site logged multiple entries.
- Fixed the router won't port forward for DNS lookup from the WAN side
to the LAN side.
- Fixed with ICQ application support.
Bug Fixes Since Version 4.1.8
- Fixed Check Point VPN Connection Drop issue (when using UDP encapsulation).
- Fixed Vonage VoIP call connection drop issue.
Upgrading to the New Software
You can upgrade by using the web interface Router Upgrade menu
- Before you upgrade write down all of your current settings as you
will need to enter them in MANUALLY after upgrading your firmware
- Open the browser and access the router (usually the address is http://192.168.0.1)
- Login to the router (User Name = admin Password = password
unless you have changed it)
- Click Maintenance > Router Upgrade
- Click Browse and locate the upgrade file (download link is
below)
- Click Upload
- Wait for the router to reboot
- Verify that the router firmware has been upgraded
- Reset router to factory defaults
- Wait for the router to reboot
- Re-enter the settings you noted down before upgrading
