Why Does a Super G Card Not Reach Full Speed?

Improving Wireless Range

WAG511 Driver Version 2.4

Published September 20, 2004

Supports Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000 and XP

Improvements and Fixes

Driver

1. Change driver version from 3.1.1.154 to 3.1.1.354

2. Fixed Bug 104 - The DUT (client) took time to make a connection with AP if the security mode between "No key" and "WPA-PSK" was switched and the "Super" mode was enabled

3. Correct Copyright string

Inf File

1. Corrected driver version date

2. Add a registry key "disableTurboG" and set it to 0 on regedit. (fix issue: cannot scan Turbo mode AP with WAG511 v1 Turbo G function)

InstallShield

1. Remove few registry keys remained after uninstallation and libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll in directory "c:\windows\system32\oobe\html\omeveg\bin" for Netgear's requirement

2. When AUTORUN program is executed under user mode on WinXP or Win2k, a message is displayed to inform user installation requires administrator privileges. Then the program will not launch installShield setup.exe to avoid an error message "The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched. Class not registered"

3. After using installShield to install driver and UI, WAG511v1 card doesn't need to be unplug & replug again

Utility

1. The WAG511v1 card can be recognized in Windows XP and Windows 2000 when the card is plugged in

2. The WAG511v1 card can be displayed as the Selected Adapter when installed on Windows 2000 and Windows XP client PCs

3. When the WAG511v1 card is installed in a Windows 2000 and Windows XP client PC, the Transmit Power and Power Saving mode settings can be disabled

4. The WAG511v1 card in a Windows XP or Windows 2000 client PC will not run AutoCell after AutoCell is disabled and the client PC is restarted

1. FIRST Uninstall current WAG511 driver (Start > Programs > Netgear WAG511 Adapter > Uninstall WAG511 Utility).
