    Known Issues

    · Access to the router-attached shared disk using \\wgt634u format may not work due to setting in Microsoft Networking. Workaround – add the router ip address ( default is 192.168.1.1 ) to WINS section in TCPIP properties. See FAQ at www.netgear.com for detail information. Workaround is to add the router IP address ( default is 192.168.1.1 ) to the TCP/IP WINS tab.
    · PPPoE on demand connection may not start until multiple packets are sent
    · WEB UI acts weird after a firmware upgrade. The fix is to follow the standard home router upgrade procedure and after a firmware upgrade, reset the router to factory default.

    Known Issues

    Known Issues

    · Access to the router-attached shared disk using \\wgt634u format may not work due to setting in Microsoft Networking. Workaround – add the router ip address ( default is 192.168.1.1 ) to WINS section in TCPIP properties. See FAQ at www.netgear.com for detail information. Workaround is to add the router IP address ( default is 192.168.1.1 ) to the TCP/IP WINS tab.
    · After a router reboot, the client PC may fail to retrieve IP address via DHCP. The workaround is either reboot the PC or use IPCONFIG /RENEW to retrieve the new IP address
    · FTP access from WAN or Internet is not READ ONLY if the FTP setting is READ/WRITE. The workaround is to set up a different FTP account as READ ONLY.
    · Editing the FTP access entry or creating a new entry will cause intermittent failure in FTP log in. Workaround is to edit the FTP access entry and re-enter the password field.
    · Terminating a file copy operation to a shared disk will leave an orphan partial file. Workaround is to delete this partial file manually.

    Upgrading to the New Software

You can upgrade by using the web interface Router Upgrade menu

  1. Before you upgrade write down all of your current settings as you will need to enter them in MANUALLY after upgrading your firmware
  2. Open the browser and access the router (usually the address is http://192.168.1.1)
  3. Login to the router (User Name = admin Password = password unless you have changed it)
  4. Click Maintenance > Router Upgrade
  5. Click Browse and locate the upgrade file (download link is below)
  6. Click Upload
  7. Wait for the router to reboot
  8. Verify that the router firmware has been upgraded
  9. Reset router to factory defaults
  10. Wait for the router to reboot
  11. Re-enter the settings you noted down before upgrading

Note: Reset to factory default after a firmware upgrade and reconfigure router again.
