FVS318 ProSafe VPN Firewall Version 2.4 Published date: July 21, 2004 This describes enhancements and bug fixes in the FVS318 software Release Version 2.4. The enhancements and fixes are those added since Release Version 1.4. Before you upgrade! Write down the configuration settings you changed from the defaults! You MUST clear the configuration after upgrading (with the default button on the rear panel or the Erase button in the Backup Settings menu) and reenter your configuration information manually. If you do not do this, you will lose your existing connection — the DHCP server will not work! New Features Overview Version 2.4 Smart Wizard Configuration Assistant A Smart Wizard Configuration Assistant has been added to help guide you in the initial configuration of the router and connection to the Internet. To use the Configuration Assistant, the router must be in the default manufacturing state. You can reset the router to the default state in two ways: (1) press and hold the reset button on the rear of the router for more than 10 seconds; or (2) click Erase in the router's Backup Settings menu. Advanced User Access: Advanced users who want to bypass the Smart Wizard Configuration Assistant can log in the router at http://www.routerlogin.net/basicsetting.htm with the user name of admin and the password of password, both in lower case letters. Access the Router’s Configuration Manager by URL To access the Configuration Manager, you no longer need to type the router’s IP address into the browser. Two URLs — www.routerlogin.com and www.routerlogin.net — have been added to the DNS proxy software, and will connect the user to the Configuration Manager. Version 2.3 VPN Wizard for Easy Configuration of VPN Connections In the Navigation bar, a selection has been added for a VPN Wizard. This interview-style Wizard will guide you to configure the FVS318 for router-to-router or router-to-client connections. The Wizard makes policy choices to simplify configuration and for interoperability, using recommendations from the VPN Consortium, and then lists the corresponding settings for use in configuring the remote device. Refer to the manual for details. Modifications and Bug Fixes Version 2.4 1. Improved Oray DDNS client Version 2.3 1. Added VPN Wizard feature. Version 2.2 1.
