Software Revision 2.3.0 (3484) for FSM726, FSM726S, FSM750S, GSM712, and GSM712F

Published: Jan. 13, 2004

Enhancements

  • Add SNMP v2c support.
  • Add Trusted MAC Addresses feature. For each port, the switch will allow the admin to enter up to 128 static MAC addresses. Only packets with MAC address that match an address defined in that port will be forwarded. All others will be dropped. The broadcast address also is allowed by default and need not be part of the addresses. The combined total of the trusted address cannot exceed 1024.
  • Add MAC Addresses locked down feature. This is security feature that in this mode, once a port is learned on a port, it cannot be moved to another port unless special instruction from the switch manager.

Installation Procedure (also in your documentation)

1. Put the new software image on a PC with TFTP server. The file should be in the TFTP home/root directory
2. Go to Main Menu>Tools>Software Upgrade (in the Web or Console Interface)
3. Select ‘Net’ option for ‘Next Boot from’ field
4. Verify information such as the IP address for the TFTP Server, Gateway IP address, and the file name and its path of the new image (no path is needed if the file is under TFTP root directory)
5. Save the setting in non-volatile memory before reboot. In the Browser interface, go to Main Menu>Tools>Save Configuration, and use the ‘Save’ button. In the console interface, use Ctrl-W and confirm the change to NVRAM
6. Restart the system via the Tools>Reset command. Bootstrap will retrieve the new image then pass control to it. The system will execute the new software image
7. Test your switch to make sure the new image is working correctly. If you decide to keep the new image, go to Software Download again. Select ‘Net & Save’ option in ‘Next Boot from:’ field. If you prefer the previous firmware, just reboot your switch
8. Restart the system via the Tools>Reset command. The new image should over-write the old image in non-volatile memory
9. Verify the new image by going to the Main Menu>System and check the ‘Software Version’ information
