Software Revision 2.2.2 (3395) for FSM726, FSM726S, FSM750S, GSM712, and GSM712F

Published: Oct. 28, 2003

Enhancements

  • Fine-tuned the parameters to achieve 0% packet loss in full mesh tests for GSM712 and GSM712F, and 0 packet loss for the un-congested port in HOL Blocking tests for all models.
  • Improved broadcast storm protection for better performance throughout the stack.

Corrections

  • Fixed an issue where the system would lock-up under heavy broadcast traffic with “Block Fetch DMA timeout”.
  • Fixed minor reporting error where the port number displayed in the CLI 'show mac' command was off by one.
  • Fixed packet loss issue for both half and full duplex mode when more than 20 ports were connected (populated).
  • Fixed an issue where the system would lock-up with a “TLB Exception” error message.

Installation Procedure (also in your documentation)

1. Put the new software image on a PC with TFTP server. The file should be in the TFTP home/root directory.
2. Go to Main Menu>Tools>Software Upgrade (in the Web or Console Interface).
3. Select ‘Net’ option for ‘Next Boot from’ field.
4. Verify information such as the IP address for the TFTP Server, Gateway IP address, and the file name and its path of the new image (no path is needed if the file is under TFTP root directory)
5. Save the setting in non-volatile memory before reboot. In the Browser interface, go to Main Menu > Tools > Save Configuration, and use the ‘Save’ button. In the console interface, use Ctrl-W and confirm the change to NVRAM.
6. Restart the system via the Tools > Reset command. Bootstrap will retrieve the new image then pass control to it. The system will execute the new software image.
7. Test your switch to make sure the new image is working correctly. If you decide to keep the new image, go to Software Download again. Select ‘Net & Save’ option in ‘Next Boot from:’ field. If you prefer the previous firmware, just reboot your switch.
8. Restart the system via the Tools > Reset command. The new image overwrites the old image in non-volatile memory.
9. Verify the new image by going to the Main Menu > System and check the ‘Software Version’ information.
