New Features Overview
Smart Wizard Configuration Assistant
A Smart Wizard Configuration Assistant was added to help guide you
in the initial configuration of the router and connection to the Internet.
To use the Configuration Assistant, the router must be in the default
manufacturing state. You can reset the router to the default state in
two ways: 1) Press and hold the reset button on the rear of the router
for 10 seconds, or 2) Click Erase in the router's Backup
Settings menu.
Access the Router's Configuration Manager by URL
To access the Configuration Manager, you no longer needs to type the
router's IP address into the browser. Two URLs — www.routerlogin.com
and www.routerlogin.net — were added to the DNS proxy software; they
connect you to the Configuration Manager.
Modifications and Bug Fixes
Release version 5.30
- Fixed the SBC/PPPoE WAN port detection issue in the SmartWizard.
Release version 5.03
- Fixed wireless compatibility issues with Centrino-based systems.
- Fixed various minor issues.
Known Issues
- Occasionally after configuration, there may be a latency in the DNS
proxy response. If this occurs, wait 20-30 seconds after the completion
of the configuration, then launch a new browser session.
- When manually entering settings to configure the router, you must
finish the process by clicking Apply. Otherwise, a browser launched
from a PC connected to the router displays the router Configuration
Assistant Welcome page rather than the browser's home page.
- In some situations the Configuration Assistant Welcome page takes
45 seconds to display. This is related to browser caching, clearing
the browser cache eliminates the problem.
To Upgrade
NOTE: You MUST clear the configuration after upgrading
(either by using the default button on the rear panel or the Erase button
in the Backup Settings menu) and reenter your configuration information
manually. Write down all of your configuration information before upgrading.
You can upgrade by using the Web interface Router Upgrade menu.
- Open a browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape).
- Access the router (usually http://192.168.0.1).
- Log in to the router (User Name = admin and Password = password
unless you changed it).
- Write down all settings that you have entered during configuration.

- Click Browse and locate the upgrade file for your router.
- Click Upload.
- Wait for the router to reboot.
- Under Maintenance, click Settings Backup, then click
Erase.
- Wait for the router to reboot.
- Manually enter your configuration information.
For problems after upgrading, clear the router again, as Steps 9 - 10
above, and reconfigure.
This upgrade has a Smart Wizard Configuration Assistant. If
it does not get you online, use this URL to bypass it, to get to
the familar manual configuration page: www.routerlogin.net/basicsetting.htm |
