FWG114P ProSafe™ VPN Firewall Version 2.0 Release 18 Software Release Notes

This describes bug fixes in FWG114P Release Version 2.0 Release 18 software. The fixes are those added since Release Version 2.0 Release 10.

NOTE: There are two versions of the FWG114P. This software is not for the FWG114Pv2. If the bottom label on your router says FWG114Pv2 this software can not be loaded into your router.

NOTE: A factory reset is required after upgrading (unless upgrading from Version 2.0 Release 10 or later and having performed a factory reset after upgrading). Please see instructions below.

Modifications and Bug Fixes

    Version 2.0_18

  1. Fixed a problem where remote management access could be lost after a period of time.
  2. Fixed a problem where a local server using port 5050 would not function properly.
  3. Can now accept fragmented IKE packets.
  4. Fixed a problem with using domain names in the VPN IPSec policy.
  5. Fixed a problem where Daylight Saving start time in Egypt was wrong.
  6. Fixed a problem where Daylight Saving end time was wrong in Chile.
  7. Added a checkbox to enable use of a short retry time with ngDDNS.

    Versions 2.0_10 through 2.0_17

  1. NTP logging has been moved to the "Other connections and traffic to this Router" category and is enabled by checking this checkbox.
  2. An issue where debug code could result in remote FQDN resolution to a test address in the absence of a valid address was resolved by removing the debug code.
  3. In the Services menu, if the finish port is left blank, the service is now correctly created assuming the service applies only to the start port.
  4. Fixed a problem where, for certain time zones including GMT, after checking the "Automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time" check box and applying it, the checkbox would become unchecked.
  5. Fixed a problem with LAN-to-LAN mode which caused auto-dial even though the WAN had not failed.
  6. Fixed a problem running Citrix in LAN-to-LAN mode.
  7. Fixed a problem in LAN-to-LAN mode where the remote side's DNS was not obtained, so a DNS had to be entered manually.
  8. Fixed problems with access to various Web sites.
  9. Fixed issue which had resulted in bogus logs including First TCP Packet not SYN, TCP preconnect traffic, etc.
  10. Fixed a problem with PPPoE idle timeout.
  11. Fixed a problem where the IKE packet could be sent incorrectly in PPPoE mode.
  12. There is now a Drop button on the VPN status page for Manual policies.
  13. Fixed a problem with parallel Trace Route using Netlab95.
  14. Improved operation of automatic Daylight Savings Time adjustment on the Logs page.
  15. Dyndns addresses are now updated automatically after 28 days.
  16. Fixed a problem where logs would not be sent out when full even though email set to "Daily".
  17. Fixed a problem with inbound VPN connections when NAT off.
  18. Increased FQDN character limit to 128 characters.
  19. Fixed a problem where massive FTP transfers could fail.
  20. Fixed a problem where LAN client PCs couldn't get an IP address if NAT off and PPPoE/PPTP WAN connection type.
  21. Fixed a problem where RIP packets were not broadcast if PPPoE WAN connection type.
  22. When logging out, your are is no longer asked for password.

Known Issues

  1. Serial line auto-rollover is not available with NAT off. Please use the FWG114P in NAT mode if the auto-rollover function is desired.
  2. If you experience difficulty in printing out the last page, select 'LPR byte counting enabled' in the printer port properties. This is a known limitation in remote printing on a network.

To Upgrade

NOTE: If you upgrade from an earlier than Version 2.0 Release 10, this process requires clearing to Factory Defaults after upgrading the firmware. Before starting this process, write down all your configuration information.

  1. Download and unzip the upgrade file from the link below to a convenient place such as your desktop.

    Download: Right-Click and Save (1.18 MB)

  2. Using a browser, login to the router as admin.
  3. Under Maintenance, click Router Upgrade.
  4. Click Browse and locate the upgrade file fwg114p_2018.img.
  5. Click Upload.
  6. Wait for the router to reboot and the TEST LED to turn off.
  7. Turn the router power off.
  8. Turn the router power back on.
  9. If upgrading from earlier than Version 2.0 Release 10, clear the old configuration by pressing the Factory Defaults pushbutton on the rear panel until the Test LED blinks (about 10 seconds). Reenter your configuration information manually.
