Improving Wireless Range

FWG114Pv2 ProSafe Firewall
Version 1.1_01

  • Supports Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, XP, and Windows 2003 Server Enterprise.
  • Printing: It is highly advised to FIRST install the printer to the target PC (the printer connected to the PC with USB cable), to print a test page and when OK, to connect the printer to FWG114Pv2 and install it by following the instructions in the Reference Manual.

Improvements and Bug fixes from Version 1.0_00 to v1.1_01

1. Country setting bug for Australia and Canada corrected.
2. Changed Boot Loader’s flash type.
3. WPA-TLS works now.
4. IPs can now be assigned.
5. Fixed that WAN always tried to dial up, even when dial timeout happened.
6. Fixed that the firewall hung up when doing LAN to LAN access to citrix.netgear.com.
7. Fix NAT off: device may hang up if no WAN IP address.
8. Fixed that the wireless security menu selection lost changes.
9. Fixed that during normal upgrade, Erase all & factory default did not change RF parameters.
10. Fixed mapping didn’t work when adding different internal/external port mapping to UPnP.
11. Fixed rare occurrences where the DHCP client failed or hung up.
12. Fixed that NAT disable: WAN port cannot get IP.
13. Improved enable wireless access control disconnection time: which took about 30 seconds to disconnect a client.
14. Fixed wireless WEP selection: generating a key before selecting the region was hanging the firewall.
15. Fixed that the start and end time field weren’t disabled on the first occasion the schedule page was entered, because the default option of 'time of day' is 'all day'.
16. Improved WPA-PSK entry: a warning shows immediately warning the user when more than 63 characters are entered.
17. Fixed: On wizard NAT page, the button on warning message was reversed.

To Upgrade the Firmware

As described in the manual's instructions, you must clear the configuration AFTER upgrading. Please write down all of your configuration information before upgrading.

You can upgrade by using the Web interface Router Upgrade menu.

Download the link below, and unzip the firmware to a convenient place such as the desktop.

1. Open the browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape).
2. Access the router (usually http://192.168.0.1).
3. Login to the router (User Name = admin Password = password unless you have changed it).
4. Write down all configuration settings that you have previously set.
5. Click Maintenance > Router Upgrade.
6. Click Browse and locate the upgrade file “fwg114pv2_v_1_01.img”.
7. Click Upload.
8. Wait for the router to reboot.
9. Under Maintenance, click Settings Backup.
10. Click Erase.
11. Wait for the router to reboot.
12. Reconfigure the router using the settings you wrote down in Step 4.

Check your model!

This firmware is NOT compatible with FWG114 (aka FWG114v1).
