FM114P ProSafe Firewall Version 1.4 Release 26

August 28, 2003.

This note describes enhancements and bug fixes incorporated in the release software version 1.4 Release 26. The enhancements and fixes includes all those added since software release version 1.3 Release 05.

NOTE: If you are upgrading from a version older than v1.3, you must first upgrade to v1.3, then to v1.4.

NOTE: NETGEAR strongly recommends that you clear the configuration after upgrading, using the default button on the rear panel, and reenter your configuration information.

Modifications and Bug Fixes

Version 1.4 (Release 26)

1. User interface now more responsive.
2. MTU setting improvements.
3. Two LAN users can now connect to one remote game server.
4. Fixed DNS proxy bug.
5. NTP Improvements
6. Fixed MSN Messenger file transfer bug.

Known Issues

) If Print Server does not function after upgrade:

a. Go to LANIP menu.
b. Disable Print Server.
c. Click Apply.
d. Enable Print Server.
e. Click Apply.

2) Logging is very verbose by default. As this may affect performance, you may want to turn off logging of items that are not of interest to you.

  • VPN passthrough now allows two LAN users connect to one VPN server if "Allow multi LAN user connect to one VPN server" is enabled in techsupp.htm.
  • Fixed: After config file upload, service/rules/MTU values may be wrong.
  • Add Ident as special application.
  • Change default MTU size: DHCP:1468, PPPoE:1460, PPTP:1430.
  • Allow user to config port 65535.
  • Add "None" option in the email choices.
  • SSID broadcast can be disabled.

Upgrade Instructions

NOTE: If you are upgrading from a version older than v1.3, you must first upgrade to v1.3, then to v1.4

NETGEAR strongly recommends that you clear the configuration after upgrading, using the default button on the rear panel, and re-enter your configuration information. Please write down all of your configuration information before upgrading.

  1. Download using the button below to a convenient place such as your desktop extract the zip file.

  1. Using a browser, login to the router (the default URL is http://192.168.0.1). The user name is admin, and the default password is password.
  2. Under Maintenance, click Router Upgrade
  3. Click Browse and locate the file which you just downloaded: fm114p_1426.img
  4. Click Upload.
  5. Wait for the upgrade progress bar to complete and final prompt to appear.
