XEPS103 - Frequently asked questions

 

Does the powerline function still work if the 12V 1A power supply is left unconnected?

Yes, the XEPS103 can be used as a Powerline adapter by just plugging into a wall socket and connecting the Ethernet cord to your Ethernet device.

 

Does the DC output support short-circuit protection?

Yes. The adaptor would not be damaged by shorting the DC output to Ground.

 

Can I use XE103 or XE104 configuration utility to configure XEPS103?

Yes, and vice versa.

 

Why is HomePlug LED not on?

If XEPS103 could not find any other HomePlug device, the HomePlug LED would be turned off. It may be caused by noise or powerline signal attenuation.

 

Which Powerline adapter products will XEPS103 communicate with?

XEPS103 is compatible with XE102, XE103, and XE104 Powerline adapters from NETGEAR.  It is also compatible with other Homeplug 1.0 standard adapters and will co-exist (work on the same network but not communicate) with HDX101 Powerline HD adapter.

 

Is XEPS103 compatible with HomePlug devices made by other manufactures?

Yes, it is but, in order to obtain an optimum performance and usability, it is recommended to use NETGEAR XE103 or XE104.

 

Which routers will the power plug on XEPS103 work with?

XEPS103 can serve as a power adapter for most NETGEAR consumer routers that accept a 12 Volt 1 Amp power supply.  This includes G, Super G, RangeMax, RangeMax 240, and RangeMax Next routers.  It is NOT compatible with RangeMax Next Gigabit edition (WNR854T). Please refer to the User Manual for a list of compatible NETGEAR products that works with the XEPS103.

 

I live in an apartment building, can I use my XEPS103 in a secure network?

Yes, you can use the Powerline Encryption Utility to set a network password within the group or network of Powerline adapters.

 

Can I plug XEPS103 into a power strip?

NETGEAR recommends plugging the XEPS103 directly into the wall socket.
