RangeMax Seems Complicated. Do I need to Understand the Details of MIMO Technology?

No, the basics of RangeMax configuration are much like other wireless devices. What's different about RangeMax is the range and throughput, and its ability to dynamically avoid obstacles and interference. You don't need to be an expert to benefit!

Is there any reason to buy the older WPN824 router?

  • It's an excellent value for the cost. The new WPNT834 RangeMax 240, costs more, but has far better performance.
  • It's slightly easier to position the older product than it is to experiment with the RangeMax 240's movable antennas.

Is the router compatible with 802.11b and 802.11g?

The router is compatible with wireless 802.11b and 802.11g products. The options are:

  • 802.11g only — Only 802.11g wireless devices can be used.
  • 802.11g/802.11.b — By default, only 802.11g, 802.11b wireless devices can be used. This allows access to both "g" and "b" wireless devices.

    Can the antennas be replaced?

    No. One antenna detaches so that it is not broken in shipping. The FCC (and other international organizations) require that the detachable antenna for this product must not be replaced by another antenna.

    What will maximize range and throughput?

    Does anybody sell equipment upgradeable to the most advanced 802.11n wireless standard?

    The IEEE committee has not finalized the standard, therefore no one can say that their routers or adapters are upgradeable to, or compatible with, 802.11n.

    Network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of network traffic,building materials and construction, and network overhead, lower actual data throughput rate.
