Popular Questions about the WG511U Adapter

Popular Questions about the WG511U Adapter

What Does "Double 108 Mbps" Mean?

That the WG511U can access two no-license-needed wireless RF bands – 802.11a and 802.11g, when used with the WGU624 router.

Can I Get 216 Mpbs, Total?

The maximum throughput is 108 Mbps. If you have a WG511U using 802.11a band, while another uses 802.11g, you have a double 108 Mbps.

What are the Reasons I Might Not See the Extra Range?

There are many factors. (See Improving Wireless Range)

Specific to the WG511U, you need to use NETGEAR products in both in thebase station (AP) and the wireless station (PC). For example, WG511U can be used with WGU624.

Usually 2.4 GHz band (used by 802.11g), gets the most interference, even you don’t see other AP is interfering. Microwave oven and 2.4 GHz cordless phone may interfere the band, which may severely affect XR.

How Can I Tell Which Devices on My Network Support XR?

Open the SmartWizard utility, and click the Network tab. If you see an XR mark next to the access point, it supports XR.
