Apple Support for NETGEAR Wireless Adapters

Apple Macintosh Support for NETGEAR Wireless Adapters

Thanks to an agreement with OrangeWare, many NETGEAR wireless adapters work with Apple's Airport access points. Once these drivers are installed Mac users can connect with Apple or PC access points.

  • Mac OS X is required.
  • 802.11 a, b, and g are supported, depending on the adapter.
  • The RangeMax WPN511 is supported.

Note that performace, the theoretical maximum of an IEEE standard is limited by several unavoidable factors. The information in Routers and Adapters: Which are Fastest? shows these theoretical adapter maximums in relation to router models. The performance of the Orangeware drivers will differ from the NETGEAR PC drivers.

The drivers are $15.00. A free trial period is available.

  • WAB501 — 802.11a/b Dual Band PC Card
  • WAG511 — 802.11a/b/g Dual Band PC Card
  • WAG311 — Dual Band Wireless PCI Adapter
  • WG311T — 108 Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter
  • WG511T — 108 Mbps Wireless PC Card
  • WG511U — Double 108 Mbps Wireless PC Card
  • WPN311 — RangeMax Wireless PCI Adapter
  • WPN511 — RangeMax Wireless PC Card

For trial and order information see: OrangeWare.

There are two options for Customer Support (free support is not available from NETGEAR for these drivers):

  • Contact Orangeware directly.
  • For issues involving advanced NETGEAR product configuration and Orangeware, NETGEAR's paid ProSupport is available.

Maximum wireless signal rate derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Actual data throughput will vary. Network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, and network overhead, lower actual data throughput rate.
