Why are There Two WG511 Utility Icons in the System Tray?

The previous WG511 software has been installed in addition to the new software. To keep the original WG511 utility and use it interchangeably, upgrade your WG511 software from v1.1 or v1.2 to v1.5. The v1.5 utility will coexist with the new WG511T utility. This way, whichever cards you use, the correct utility is started.

To Remove the WG511 Software

  1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
  2. Remove the NETGEAR WG511 54Mbps Wireless PC Card.

To Upgrade From v1.1/v1.2 to v1.6

  1. Download the file from the WG511 Support Page. READ THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ON THAT PAGE.
  2. Run WG511v16.exe.
  3. Select Repair from the InstallShield Wizard prompt and click Next.
  4. Click Finish when done to restart your computer.
