Same IRQ Shows Differently

Question

Why Does an Adapter Show One IRQ in the Diag Utility But a Different One in the Windows Device Manager?

Answer

On an AMD K6 containing a VIA chipset, Windows and DOS see the Network cards on different IRQ's. What you need is the 4 in 1 drivers from www.viatech.com to correct this! The following Questions have been taken from the Viatech site to answer a few of the questions you may have about the solution presented here!

Q: What are the VIA 4-in-1 drivers? The 4-in-1 drivers are a collection of periodically updated drivers that provide enhanced VIA chipset support under Microsoft Windows.

Q: Should I install the 4-in-1 drivers? All VIA chipset users should install the 4-in-1 drivers to improve performance, fix issues, and minimize any incompatibilities.

Q: Which operating system can I install the 4-in-1 drivers under? The 4-in-1 drivers currently support all versions of Microsoft  Windows, including Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, and 2000. Linux/UNIX support is not available at this time.

Q: What updates are contained in the 4-in-1 driver set? The 4-in-1 drivers currently contain an AGP GART driver, an IDE Busmaster, a Machine.inf update, and an IRQ Routing driver. These drivers can be installed separately, but installation through the 4-in-1 package is suggested.
