What is the recommended printer configuration in Unix using the PS110?

Question

What is the recommended printer configuration in Unix using the PS110?

Answer

Netgear recommends that the LPD printing method be used. This allows print jobs to be queued to the Unix print spooler so that print jobs are sent to the print server only when the printer is ready. In contrast, Direct Socket Interface printing is not recommended because it uses uni-directional printing, which sends the print jobs directly to the print server without checking for printer status. When the printer is not ready, the print job does not get queued and is lost.
