Daylight Saving Time: Routers 1 Hour Off

Daylight Saving Time: Routers 1 Hour Off

Most NETGEAR routers do not automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time. If your router is off an hour, uncheck the box Adjust for Daylight Saving Time (in October, when going back to normal time). Check the box again when Daylight Saving Time starts again. It appears, for example on the router's Email or Schedule pages, as described in the manual.

While it's true that the routers could be designed to automatically compensate, even minor changes are not cost-free: there would be design, documentation, distribution, and customer support costs. As Daylight Saving Time points out, while many countries do daylight saving, they do it differently. So it's not a simple change for international products.

The time being off by one hour does not affect the primary router functionality, it changes the time used in logging, email alerts, and time-based URL filtering.

Information about changing Daylight Saving Time appears in the router user or reference manuals. If you do not have a manual, download load it by selecting your product on the Support page, then select the appropriate download. Note that some products come in several versions — determine which is appropriate to you.
