Configuring the FVS318 Router for Remote Management

  1. Open router's Web configuration screen.
  2. Select Advanced > Remote Management > Allow Remote Management.
  3. Select an option under 'Allow Remote Access by': 'Allow everyone', 'IP range', or 'Only this PC'. If an 'IP range' or 'only this PC' is selected, make sure the range or IP address mentioned is correct.
  4. In port number type the port number to forward for Remote Management service. Make sure that the port that you specify is not forwarded to another service. Check this clicking Advanced > Ports. If port is already forwarded to any other service, then enter any other port (from 1024-30000), but do not use the port of any common service ports. That is, don't reuse the ports used by FTP, HTTP, and so on.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Logout from the router.
To access the router from a remote location, in a browser's address bar, type the FVS318's IP address, followed by a colon, followed by the port number. For example: 4.23.163.23:8080. You are prompted for the password to enter the FVS318's Web interface.
