Uninstalling Adapter's Software and Utilities

This is useful when:

  • Upgrading to new software or utilities.
  • Removing a duplicate or unwanted utility.
  • Installing a different adapter.

Be prepared to restart your computer during this process.

  1. Make sure you have the installation files for the software and utilities you plan to install after completing this uninstallation.
  2. Exit all programs.
  3. Exit any utility for the adapter running in the system tray on the lower left of your monitor. (Right-click the icon, and select Exit.)
  4. To safely remove the adapter:
    1. Mouse over the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray.
    2. Double-click the icon. The Unplug or Eject Hardware window appears.
    3. Highlight the adapter, and click Stop.
    4. Click OK, if asked to confirm removal.
    5. Physically pull the adapter out.
  5. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
  6. Select the NETGEAR software or utility and click Remove.
  7. Follow the instructions to remove.
  8. Close the Add/Remove Programs window.
